Stellar Quines have received support from City of Edinburgh’s Diversity and Inclusion fund to further develop our new show for us girls of colour making half notes into song when the haar is all.

Last November, we shared a work in progress of the play by Hannah Lavery with poetry from Clementine E Burnley, Shasta Ali Hanif and Anita Mackenzie who all performed a reading of the play at The Royal Lyceum Edinburgh. The work is series of poetic responses to Ntozake Shange’s iconic choreopoem for girls of colour who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf exploring love, loss and sisterhood.

The funding will be used to support the research and development of the show which explores the intersections between race and gender, as experienced by women of colour in Scotland. The production will amplify the experiences of those Scottish women who are underrepresented on our stages and in our literature.

We are looking to present a full production of the show with our co-producers Royal Lyceum Edinburgh in the near future so watch this space.
